Worry Is The Thief Of Joy

December 12, 2019 by JOHANNA JACKSON

I say this all the time because it’s true.  I will have to tell you that I worry less and less these days.  And let me tell you my friends this is true freedom!  But it wasn’t always this way.  I grew up in a household that did nothing but worry.  So it became my normal.  It wasn’t until later in life that I realized that peace could be my new normal.  So how did I get to this point?  Well meditation was a big contributor but also my beliefs around this have helped me get to this state of being.  The first belief: I believe that this universe if working for me and not against me.  Einstein says that deciding this is one of the most important decisions you can make in your life because that is what you will then experience.  Second belief: I also believe that all is well and everything will always work out.  Sometimes I may not see it immediately but it always ends up being for the best. Third belief: I am accepting what is.   I am not pushing against my current reality.  That’s it folks in a nutshell!  But…the big BUT…if I find it creeping in which is does here and there; I remind myself of these questions.  What will worry do for me at this moment?  Will it change anything?  Probably not.  Will it make the thing go away?  Probably not.  So then what is the point?  Einstein says that the energy around a problem is not the same as the energy around a solution.  I agree!  But what does that mean?  Staying in the energy of the problem doesn’t allow for the solution to reveal itself.  Think about it.  When you surrender to something doesn’t something usually change or reveal itself to you?  That’s when you allow for your mind to clear and let the solution in.  The worrying is just noise.

So I have to share with you something a fabulous friend of mine does that I thought was so brilliant.  She schedules a worry appointment!!  LOVE THIS (You rock Amy!)!  She says it has been working really really well for her.  It’s a way that helps her combat constant worry and anxiety. She has started scheduling worry appointments where she looks in the mirror and says out loud absolutely everything that is worrying her. Outside of those appointments she does not allow herself to worry, if worry comes to her she writes it down so that she can express it in her worry appointment. She says after only a few days it’s amazing how well it has been working for her. My friend has had really bad anxiety always and she said it’s amazing how these little things can really turn the tide. She’s been feeling much more peaceful. She doesn’t try to fix the problem during the worry appointment; she just tries to express them all.

I said to her let’s take it a step further. Why not add to that mirror work a statement that says “all is well” or that “you are safe”?  I am a huge fan of mirror work. I first learned about it through the motivational author, Louise Hay. Mirror work is very powerful and deserves its own blog so more on that later.  So of course I tried this and I loved it.  I stated out loud everything that was on my mind and then gave myself the reassurance I needed.  It felt good and exactly what I needed.  It’s nice to know that we can always give ourselves what we need.  So I hope this inspires you to allow more peace into your lives.  :)
